Cuyahoga County Veterans Service Commission Launches New Website

CLEVELAND, OHIO, March 13, 2017 – The Cuyahoga County Veterans Service Commission (CCVSC) has launched a new website developed for U.S. veterans and their families residing in Cuyahoga County.
The website, www.CuyahogaVets.org, is a complete overhaul from the agency’s previous website that was housed within the Cuyahoga County government’s website. The new dedicated CCVSC site features a new logo and branded look designed to resonate with the veteran community.
CCVSC Executive Director Jon Reiss not only wants veterans to find the new website appealing, but to also reach out to the Veterans Service Commission for no-cost assistance. “There are simply too many veterans in our community who served our country well, but are now struggling with everyday challenges that we can support them with,” said Reiss. “Many veterans aren’t aware that we provide temporary and emergency financial assistance to those facing unexpected hardship. We are often able to help them with things like mortgage, rent, food, clothing, utilities, personal hygiene, and other needs provided the applicant meets eligibility requirements,” Reiss explained.
Financial assistance is not the only service offered through the Cuyahoga County Veterans Service Commission. The agency employs Veterans Service Officers who assist veterans, their dependents, and survivors in filing for VA benefits such as compensation, pension, healthcare enrollment, home loan guaranty, education assistance, and more. The agency also helps veterans and their loved ones secure funeral and burial benefits, and provides medical transportation to VA medical appointments. In addition, the CCVSC employs a social worker to help veterans reach their goals and regain / maintain their self-sufficiency.
The new CCVSC website makes it easier for veterans and their families to find the services, forms, and resources they not only need, but are entitled to receive. It also allows for online form submissions and the ability to request Service Officers to attend Veterans’ events. The website was designed and developed by Linear Creative in Cleveland, Ohio. The Veterans Service Commission is not funded by, or associated with the Federal Department of Veterans Affairs. It is legislated by the State of Ohio and funded by Cuyahoga County property taxes. Each of the 88 Veterans Service Commissions in the State of Ohio has a board of five Commissioners created under the Ohio Revised Code, ORC 5901, who administer the program for their respective counties.
